We are excited that Khlur Mukhim has been visiting in the US for over a month now. His travels have take him to DC area, Boston area, Ann Arbor Michigan, where he began a road trip that included: Madison, Minneapolis, Cedar Falls Iowa, Chicago, and then he flew back to DC area. He's been joyfully received in all locations, and everyone has been enjoying the video "Life's Fair" along the way. (Should be available on the website soon!)
We have news that the land for the Orphanage, now called Kong Barr Children's Village (see resource page for story about Anne Barr), has been selected in Kharang. And fund have been raised to cover the cost of building and furnishing it. Why do this, when the children could be cared for in the homes of family members? Because we have discovered that they don't receive an Education or Vocational Training. Our goal is to get as many children an education as possible!
We have had news that the Teacher Training that Mark and Nancy Kinney held last week was very sucessful. The Education Committee members have been raving about it. So a big thanks to Mark and Nancy for pursuing this opportunity, and to each UU Church who contributed to the cost of this program.
After the dust from Khlur's whirlwind adventure settles, watch the website for some pictures of his visit. It was a lot of fun to hear about Khasi culture, Unitarian teachings, and why education is so important straight from him!
Ban tbeh jingshai!
